Bangkok Tipps / FAQ

So, now I start to make a short overview about “to do and not to do”, with hints and information’s. Some information’s could also be found at my other Websites.

bullet

Bangkok-Frustration: if you stay a longer time at Bangkok (more than 3 or 4 days) and you try to see “all” in short time, you will get “ill” because Bangkok is full and the traffic jam is terrible. But it is no problem, if you slow down. Go on sightseeing for half a day and than rest at the swimming-pool or at Lumpini-Park. Don’t try to see all in one day! Remember: Bangkok is beautiful and New York is also terrible, if you try to see all in one day;-) So, slow down and you will love Bangkok; it is NOT important to see ALL major places at Bangkok, it IS important to take a look at the people in Bangkok!

bullet

Crime: I have been in Bangkok several times and I didn’t have had any problems at all! But Bangkok is a large City and like all other big City, Bangkok has a problem called crime. If you walk alone at night in New York, you also have to be careful! But if you don’t show your money and if you be careful, you wont have problems, I think. But every time I be in Bangkok, I could see tourist showing money. It is no question, that they normally own a bump and loss their money ;-) A good working Thai gets about 250 US$ a month, so if you call your taxi with your bugs …….

bullet

Are woman allowed to go to the Entertainment-Streets like Patpong or Soi Cowboy???? YES!!! YES, REAL OF COURSE!!!!!!. Normally all Thai-Woman love the Farang (foreign) woman more then the men! Because of their jobs, they love woman and they show it! As a woman, you will never have problems in Girl-Bars or Girl-Places!!!!

bullet

Hotel safe: every Hotel has a safe for your ID-Card and for your money! Use this safe!!!!

bullet

When you reach your Hotel, ask for a business-card of the hotel. This cards are normally in Thai and in English, so you could show it to the Taxi-Driver, if he doesn’t understand you!

bullet

If you like to, give the hotel maid a little tip at the first day. They all clean your room also without tip, but…… better you give her the tip on the first, than on the last day ;-)

bullet

Don’t use the Taxis and Tuk-Tuk, which are waiting directly in front of your hotel!!!! These waiting Taxis are normally expensive! Walk 30 meters away and “call” a Taxi by making a sign with your hand.

bullet

USE ONLY TAXI-METER TAXIS! Also if it is late in the evening at Patpong, and the Taxis don’t want to use the Taximeters! Walk to one of the streets a little bit outside Patpong and call a Taxi there! I always try to get a “Green-Yellow” Taxi, they used to be fair.

bullet

Every Hotel has a good and cheap laundry, so use it. You will find a bag for the laundry in your room.

bullet

If there are Tuk-Tuk-drivers, which invite you to a 50 Baht-Trip through Bangkok: you could do this trip, but for sure, you will be driven to one of the jewelers or a big shop! After visiting this shop, the Tuk-Tuk will loose gas and petrol, so the driver is not able to drive you through Bangkok ;-)
