Lumpini Park

Lumpini Park Bangkok

The Lumpini park is more or less the ” green lung ” from Bangkok.

Who visits the Lumpini park for the first time, should start on Sundays. Starting time approx. 15,00 o’clock. Thais, Chinese, Europeans, American and so on, drive together with little boats or recover on a mat in the shadow of the trees. You can can rent the mats to lay down for a few Baht. Caution: if you lay down into the shadow of a tree, please take a look upward: if there are many birds on the tree, you can get easy the ” target “, because not only the good things are coming from above; -)

Who likes to photograph, must take some picture at the numerous play desks. There you will find old Thais and Chinese sitting and playing old board plays. The tendency and the atmosphere are to be caught easily with the camera!

A further “must” are the concerts ” Sundays in the park ” of the Bangkok Symphonies Orchestra or also different other musical presentations, which is at least in the months Decembers and January already fixed Sundays constituent in the Lumpini park. Naturally without entrance! You have to reserve a mat already early (against 17.00 o’clock), because the concerts are well known!

Boat-”driving” also a pleasure in the park. The fee is small, like the boats; -)

A tip for all, who are in Bangkok at the 2. Sunday in January: take a look at noon into the Lumpini park!!!!! On this day is CHILD DAY! Everywhere in the entire country plays and entertainments for the children are structured and it of course all Bangkok-Family’s are going into the ” family park ” . The Thais are anyway very child friendly, but on this day….. you have to be there to believe. But no fear, it is ordered also much for adults; Sanuk (fun) to have is avowed target on this day!

Fascinating: point 18,00 o’clock the Thai King-hymn rings out: EVERYTHING stops, the Jogger, the passengers, the Body-Builder in the small training park, simply everything stands still for 1 min.. The last sound could be heard….. everything continue as if nothing has happened!
